Glenkens Community and Arts Trust look for Volunteer Youth Workers

Summary of role

Volunteers are required to assist in the running of pop-up youth spaces between June and August. Assisting with setting up the hall, having a chat with young people and helping with activities. Activities will take place within the town hall and during August in the local park.

Also supervising young people on bus trips to other youth activities in Castle Douglas, Gatehouse and Kirkcudbright.

The role will be based at New Galloway Town Hall for six weeks during June and July, local park, and youth groups within the Stewartry.

Skills required

No experience is necessary. An interest in working with young people is essential along with good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Volunteers will be supported by a professional youth worker to gain experience in working with young people. Volunteers will require to register with the PVG scheme.

Training

Induction and Support will be given by trained youth workers and GCAT staff. Applicants will be interviewed by GC&AT staff, references sought and PVG applied for (paid for).
