The outbreak of Covid-19/Coronavirus is causing disruption to services, both essential and non-essential. A growing number of people are now stepping forward to help in their communities, in any way they can.
In response, Volunteer Dumfries and Galloway – part of Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway – has agreed to help fast track volunteers to help organisations with demand.
If you are not a current volunteer but would like to help, firstly, think can you help elderly or vulnerable neighbours in any way? A simple act can be vital in a time like this.
Check on your neighbours, especially anyone who may live alone, the elderly or potentially vulnerable. If someone is self-isolating or unable to get out for whatever reason – there are practical yet vital tasks you can do:
It is often the little acts of kindness that have the most impact and there are many more.
If you want to help the wider community, we are working with third sector organisations and public sector partners to help coordinate the volunteer effort. To sign up as a potential volunteer simply click HERE.
If you are a third sector organisation and require more volunteers please complete this form HERE.
Once you have filled out either form, we will aim to match your details with an organisation or volunteer drive in need of help or with a volunteer looking to help. Together in Dumfries and Galloway we can help those most in need.
