Lend a helping hand to organise and plan the Christmas Festival in Dumfries

Volunteers are needed by the team preparing to create a magical Christmas for Dumfries.

The Guild C.I.C were over the moon to be chosen by Dumfries and Galloway Council to be the lead delivery partner working in partnership with the local authority to organise the Christmas Lights Switch-On in Dumfries this year.

They want the event to be a true community affair and are determined to deliver a memorable festive experience in Dumfries town centre for all the community.

They have been busy the last couple of months planning, organising and working with lots of different businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals.

But, no matter how well it’s planned, without help and support from a community and lots and lots of people it’s not going to happen.

The newest director of The Guild Dumfries, Natalie Farrell has taken on the task to organise and coordinate the help they need. A list of jobs is ready from stewarding to decorating, setting up and breaking down stalls to helping with workshops. Some of the help is needed on the run up to the festival but it’s especially crucial on the actual day on Sunday December 1.

Natalie said: “Before joining The Guild Dumfries I had no idea how much time, thought and energy both Leah and Kirsten put into every project. Working out every detail to ensure that events such as last year’s Christmas Makers Market and the Pop-Up Shop in August were something very special (and they do it all unpaid).”

If you have time to spare, it really will make a difference, no matter how much.
