Young volunteers and the Saltire Awards

If you are a young person, volunteering can be a great way to gain skills and experience, which can help you when applying for further education and/or employment.

Saltire Awards are the Scottish Government’s way of celebrating and recognising the achievements of young volunteers aged 12 to 25.

If you are a young person and interested in volunteering, or already undertaking volunteering you can sign up for Saltire Awards HERE.

The nationally recognised certificates record the number of hours volunteering each young person has achieved.

  • The Approach – Certificates are awarded after 10 hour and 25 hours of volunteering
  • The Ascent – Certificates are awarded after 50, 100, 200 and 500 hours of volunteering
  • The Summit – Awarded for outstanding contribution to volunteering – minimum of 200 hours. (Volunteers must be nominated for this award.)
  • The Challenge – Awarded for one off group volunteering activity

If you are a school, or an organisation who host young volunteers (25 and under) and would like to find out more about Saltire, please contact saltire@tsdg.org.uk and one of our team will be happy to help.
