Professional Development Award in Community Involvement now available in Dumfries and Galloway

A partnership between Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway and Dumfries and Galloway College has led to the development of a Professional Development Award (PDA) in Community Involvement at SCQF level 7.

This course, being launched in February 2017, will give practitioners working within community development settings the chance to extend or broaden their skills in a way that is linked to National Occupational Standards.

Appropriate for anyone working (paid or voluntary) within Community Learning and Development settings, including CLD Practice, Community Engagement, Capacity Building, Youth Work or Adult Learning.

The PDA will cover the principles and practice of involvement in community capacity building and the social context in which capacity building occurs.

Units covered include:

  • Capacity Building
  • Group Work
  • Accountability for and Management of Resources

Furthermore, it will build on participants’ existing knowledge and experience and serve as a progression route to further study at HNC/SVQ3/4 or University Degree level.

The mode of delivery will be via a mixture of workshops/seminars and self-directed study over an 18 week period (Feb – June) including 6 days attendance at Dumfries and Galloway College Campus, Dumfries.

Dates:

  • 17th February
  • 10th March
  • 31st March
  • 21st April
  • 12th May
  • 2nd June

The course will require a commitment of 1 full day in college every 3 weeks and 1 half day of self-directed study every non-contact week.
