Volunteer Dumfries and Galloway is coordinating volunteers to help during the Coronavirus crisis .
We have had over 800 applications and are working our way through the applications, so if you have not been contacted please bear with us as the task of coordinating everyone is enormous.
We are working closely with Dumfries and Galloway Council, NHS, Police Scotland and other emergency services to direct volunteers as required. The first task will be to provide a pool of drivers for the local authority to deliver food to our most vulnerable.
Volunteering can make a large difference – a little help can go a long way.
Volunteer Dumfries and Galloway is part of Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway.
If you apply, the information you provide will be stored securely and will only be shared with other organisations for purposes relating to your volunteer registration.
- Due to national guidance, anyone who is in the at risk group, over 70 years old, pregnant, an unpaid carer or who works in healthcare cannot be considered for Coronavirus specific volunteering.
- Please note that not all volunteers who contact us will end up volunteering. We are anticipating a large volume of enquiries from people who want to help, however, not all offers of help will be taken up as the supply may be more than the demand. Please do not be discouraged if suitable roles don’t arise immediately as the response to this crisis will grow over time and the role volunteering plays in that response is likely to grow too. In the meantime, thank you for your interest.
