Dumfries Men’s Shed have put out an appeal for a van or a trailer to help collect or deliver items to raise funds.
The members are often required to collect large donations or deliver items, such as pieces of furniture.
For the heavier items in the past, the Shed has had to rely on a member’s van and his time to help transport the items.
He may not always be able to help them in the long term so eventually this may not be an option.
A spokesman for the group said: “We therefore recognise that our charity requires our own dedicated similar sized van or minibus/van in order to guarantee that we can continue to transport such items.
“Such a vehicle will be invaluable to us and would allow us to have our new logo and full contact details displayed on the van for easy identification and advertisement of the Dumfries Men’s Shed.”
Funding for this purpose is not currently available to them as they are primarily focused on obtaining new larger premises.
So they are asking for any generous organisation or individual to donate such a vehicle that is still roadworthy but may no longer be required. They are also interested in hearing from anyone that may also be willing to donate a trailer in reasonable condition that they can alter to suit needs on the occasions they have to transport more items than the van alone can carry.
“In the event we were to receive such donations, we would love to publicly thank those who donated via our website and social media pages and potentially on the vehicle itself,” the spokesman said. “Equally though, we would be happy to keep your identification confidential if you did not wish your generosity to be publicised.”
Anyone that can help is asked to email: firstname.lastname@example.org or message their Facebook page @dfsmensshed.
