Third sector chief officers’ group seeks to boost influence to achieve goals

A new Chief Officers’ Group in the Third Sector will aim to influence the public and private sectors to achieve agreed collective goals.

The objective is one of three to emerge from the first meeting held last month.

The group will also provide a safe, democratic and supportive network for third sector decision-makers in Dumfries and Galloway.

It will also create an environment for strategic collaborations, which strengthen the third sector’s ability to participate in partnerships.

A short-life working group is being set up to try to ensure that third sector candidates are put forward as board members of the new South of Scotland Enterprise Agency.

It is likely that applications will be invited later this year and the group agree it is crucial that the third sector is ready to respond.

The date of the next meeting of the chief officers’ group will be Wednesday July 17 at 10pm, venue in Dumfries to be set.
