Needs assessment to start for children and young people with substance use problems

Dumfries and Galloway Alcohol and Drugs Partnership has commissioned a comprehensive needs assessment and gap analysis for children and young people who experience problems with alcohol and/or drugs.

This includes looked after children, as well as children and young people who are affected by parental substance use.

Independent social research company Figure 8 Consultancy is looking to gather the opinions of as wide a range of interested and affected parties as possible.

Working group sessions are being held in Dumfries and Galloway. The aim of these events will be to identify the key themes that the research will need to prioritise – a good mix of disciplines is sought on the working groups.

The sessions are:

• Dumfries – Tuesday December 10, 1.30pm – 4.30 pm – Oasis Youth Centre, Newall Terrace, Dumfries, DG1 1LW

• Stranraer – Wednesday December 11, 9.30am – 12.30pm – Stranraer Library, North Strand Street, Stranraer, DG9 7LD
