Kate’s Kitchen presented with national Volunteer Friendly Award

Annan-based charity Kate’s Kitchen has successfully achieved the national Volunteer Friendly Award.

The award is a quality standard, which shows the organisation values and supports all of its volunteers.

Kate’s Kitchen helps its volunteers undertake a number of different roles, including helping in the café/kitchen and welcoming visitors.

As well as enjoying their volunteering, individuals also take part in a number of social activities.

During Covid-19, Kate’s Kitchen has continued to offer a variety of services to people in the Annan area, including delivering food parcels, hot meals and a telephone befriending service.

Manager Hazel Thompson said: “Undertaking the award allowed us to review our policies to ensure we were delivering best practice when working with our valuable volunteers. Thanks to Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway for their support in achieving our award.”

Achieving the Volunteer Friendly Award has taken a lot of work from the staff and volunteers of Kate’s Kitchen and is richly deserved – Kate’s Kitchen truly a great place to volunteer.
