Getting Your Message Across to Influence Local Planning and Decision Making – September 25/October 10

Community and third sector organisations play a key role in supporting children and families to identify their priorities and share their aspirations. Working with communities in this way generates a wealth of knowledge that can inform and influence local planning and decision making; but getting the message across is not always easy.

In this training you will explore how communication methods can help you get the message across about the work you do and the impact you make, and help build your skills and confidence in bringing community voice to the fore.

In this training you will:

  • Explore the role of communication and consider good practice in line with the National Standards for Community Engagement.
  • Learn about core communications approaches and methods.
  • Learn to use methods that are, engaging appropriate and inclusive to plan for communications
  • Have opportunity to share the communication challenges you face and look at some of the different methods that can be used with a range of stakeholders at strategic level.

Who is it aimed at?

Anyone working/volunteering in the third sector who is looking to use their work with children, young people and families to influence local services planning and decision making at strategic level.

What do you need to participate?

During the training you will refer to your own experiences and live examples of using your work to influence children’s services planning, and as such participants should come with a willingness to critically reflect on their practice and share their experience with others. To ensure you are able to participate fully in the training, so if you have any support needs please do let us know so that the organisers can accommodate these.
