The Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association (MA), has been awarding grants to museums to bring collections closer to people since 2011. Over £8.5m has been awarded to 108 projects across 17 grant rounds. The eighteenth grant round closed on 11 September 2019 – the final round in the previous phase of the project.
The most recent phase of the Collections fund was launched on Thursday October 3 following the Museums Association conference.
The purpose of the Collections Fund will remain the same: to fund a range of projects that demonstrate the significance, distinctiveness and power of collections to people. However, the approach in the next phase will reflect changes in the museum sector in recent years and the findings of the MA’s Empowering Collections report.
