Background

The Esh Group, a local business in West Yorkshire, launched the Esh Charitable Trust in 2005 as a means to fund “good causes”. It launched Esh Communities in 2012 and since then it has awarded more than £140,000 to community groups.

Objectives of Fund

The Esh Communities Fund supports community projects that address the following core values of Esh:

  • Improve quality of life for local residents.
  • Support disadvantaged or vulnerable communities.
  • Increase prospects of becoming employed.
  • Promote equality by engaging minority and hard to reach groups.

Value Notes

Grants of between £50 and £1,000 are available.

More than £40,000 was given in grants to 39 projects last year.

Match Funding Restrictions

Match funding is not required.

Who Can Apply

Local community group, charitable organisation and social enterprise can apply as long as they can demonstrate the aptitude and ability to make a real difference to their service users.

Applicants should be working within Esh’s operational communities which are in the North East, the North West, Yorkshire and Scotland.

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Groups outside of the North East, the North West, Yorkshire, and Scotland.
  • Running costs.

The funding is for local projects that address at least one of the following core values of Esh:

  • Support disadvantaged or vulnerable communities.
  • Increase prospects of becoming employed.
  • Promote equality by engaging minority and hard to reach groups.

How To Apply

The deadline for applications is 27 January 2017.

An online application form and guidelines can be found on the Esh Charitable Trust website. Please note that the Trust no longer accepts hard copy applications. Any application form from a previous year is not valid and will not be accepted.

Payment Procedure

Grant payments by cheque in two equal instalments. The first cheque will be distributed by post by the end of January 2017. The second cheque will be issued in person by a member of the Esh Group staff during an interim visit.
