Castle Douglas Development Forum seeks to commission a new Editor-manager for its highly successful community newspaper the Castle Douglas Journal.
Published six times a year, this publication has a print run of 3000 copies and reaches a readership of at least twice that figure. As well as editorial duties, the manager role includes raising advertising revenue and organising distribution via our volunteer network.
The journal plays a critical part in CDDF’s overall charitable aims by: celebrating our community and its people; reducing social Isolation; enhancing wellbeing; building community cohesion; promoting local enterprise and supporting employability and skill development.
As well as experience as an editor and published writer, the successful candidate will have extensive local knowledge and capacity to network across the region, and a willingness to work with our small editorial team of volunteers. Photography skills would also be useful.
The commission will be initially for 3 editions (six months) for a fee of £2550 with an extension for another six months subject to the editorial group’s recommendation.
For more details and copies of past editions of the journal, please email Carolyn Yates email@example.com
Closing date for application is: midnight Tuesday January 19. Interviews will be online on: Friday January 22.
The commission will start with immediate effect post-interview.
