Galloway Community Transport are seeking volunteers for two positions; Minibus Driver, and Patient Transport Driver.
The Minibus Driver is required to drive the community transport bus which is based in Dalry. This is a regular Wednesday evening service from Glenkens to Castle Douglas (Tesco) return. The service starts at 1900 in Dalry and finished at 2140 in Dalry. The average number of passengers in between 3 and 4. All COVID-19 precautions are currently in place.
In order to be suitable for this position, you must have a full driving license with appropriate mini bus permissions (D1 101, D1 by test, or PSV) and a MIDAS Certificate.
Membership of the PVG Scheme will also be required.
Volunteers will be given an on-vehicle introduction to the vehicle, tasks and procedures. They will also receive written guidance and access to phone support. Travel expenses are available.
Patient Transport Driver
The Patient Transport Driver is required to provide transport for patients in order to access hospital appointments.
Patients live within the Stwartry and West Dumfries area, however hospital appointments may be local or based in the central belt.
Suitable volunteers for this position will need a full driving license and access to a vehicle. Membership of the PVG Scheme will also be required.
Volunteers will be receive induction training and ongoing support. Written outline of tasks and responsibilites along with access to telephone guidance and support will also be made available. Travel expenses are available.
