Free awareness raising training on domestic abuse and coercive control

Wigtownshire Women’s Aid is offering free awareness raising sessions on domestic abuse and coercive control, to third sector groups and organisations across Wigtownshire.

The team can go along to any group/organisation to talk about the service and the support provided, whilst also raising awareness of new legislation and what it means for the many women and children affected by domestic abuse.

The new information sessions can be tailored to meet your needs. Sessions can last from 30 minutes for a brief overview to a full 90-minute interactive session, which also includes a short film.

Evenings or weekend sessions can also be accomodated, if this suits best.

Wigtownshire Women’s Aid is also keen to learn more about other groups and services in the communities and how it can work together to keep women and children safe, as well as build a portfolio of available activities which may be of interest to the women the organisation supports.

Feedback from previous sessions includes:

“Raising awareness of difficulties facing women, plenty of time for discussion”

“Showed the real fear that people live with through Domestic Abuse”

“Understanding the impact and how hard it is to leave”
